About me
My name is Ivy Tran, PhD, and I am a clinical psychologist.
...but I also am a reader, a painter, a dog mom, a soccer player, a gardener, an Asian American, a woman, a friend, a partner…
I understand and appreciate how parts of our identity shape how we navigate the world and go about living. I believe that understanding our values is integral to driving change and finding contentment and fulfillment.
Education
I completed my undergraduate degree at Boston University in psychology and history, and my doctorate degree in clinical psychology at Hofstra University.
During graduate school, I received comprehensive training in evidence-based cognitive and behavioral approaches to psychotherapy, psychological assessment, and diagnosis. Clinically, I have extensive experience treating severe mental illness, including schizophrenia spectrum and affective disorders with psychosis, anxiety disorders, trauma and stressor-related disorders, and adjustment disorders.

Research and Consulting
For nearly a decade, I have been involved with clinical research exploring topics across important areas of psychology. My personal passion is around the living environment, namely greenspace, and its impact on risk and resilience for mental health disorders. I have provided expert consulting for entrepreneurs in biophilic design, piloted a digital greenspace intervention for anxiety reduction, and published several peer-reviewed scientific articles on issues related to the impact of the environment on mental health.
I am also passionate about sharing psychology through teaching. From multidisciplinary clinical supervision to writing practice MCAT questions, from teaching undergraduate research methods to writing meditation scripts — I have worked to make psychology and science accessible and interesting.
